Lose Stomach Fat – 3 Reasons Hundreds of Crunches Won’t Work

Have you been trying to lose stomach fat by doing hundreds of crunches everyday? If so, I can all but guarantee that you have ended up frustrated and with little or no results to show for it.

In this article, I am going to show you 3 reasons why doing lots of crunches are not going to help you lose stomach fat.

1. You cannot “spot reduce”.

“Spot reduction” is a myth that refers to losing fat in one specific area. Physiologically, this is impossible. You cannot lose stomach fat and not lose it anywhere else. Have you ever seen someone at the beach who has a ripped six pack but has flabby love handles and a big butt? Of course not!

This is the first main reason that doing hundreds of crunches just won’t work. If spot reduction was possible, you could do 1000 crunches a day and you would get a six pack. Doing lots of crunches will help to strengthen your cure, but it will not help you to lose stomach fat.

2. You won’t lose body fat by doing lots of crunches.

In order to lose stomach fat, you need to raise your metabolism. When you strength train and do a certain type of cardio, your add muscle and raise your metabolism. Unfortunately, doing lots of crunches does not do either. To raise your metabolism and lose fat through strength training, you need to work muscles all over your body. To do this with cardio, you need to alternate between high and low intensities. This is called “interval training, and it is great for losing fat.

Your abdominals alone are not able to sustain the amount of extra muscle mass you need to raise your metabolism and lose stomach fat.

3. You won’t lose stomach fat without changing your diet.

This is probably the most important part to lose fat If you want to lose stomach fat, you need to change your diet! There are 3,500 calories in 1 lb. Think about it like this. You can easily consume 1,000 calories in 15 minutes while eating dinner. To burn the same amount of calories with exercise, it would take a very long time.

If you tried to burn all those calories just by doing crunches, it would take hours! I am sure you have better things to do with your time =)

So don’t try to reach your fat loss goals by doing hundreds of crunches. You can lose stomach fat by strength training, interval training, and a change in diet. Good luck to you and remember to keep learning and stay persistent! Remember, the effort to lose stomach fat does not have to be slow and arduous.
